A brief history

Postby Chevalier Bayard » Mon 28 Apr, 2008 01:59

After surfing on the web you've finally lost yourself and fall in The Lost Forum.

First, a brief history:

This place has firstly been created in August 2002 by P² (aka PuPPeTMaSTeR aka Hat Trick) and Gonron as a rescue zone for the Battlemail's Forums addicted who desperatly needed a fix while Battlemail servers were crashing more and more often.

For those who wonder what Battlemail is: it was a very simple online (by mail and web interface) game based on a "Paper Scissor Rocks" concept which had become through the years much more rich and complex, especially thanks to an amazing community of players which had become very strong and united.

You can have a snapshot of the original website, HERE thanks to web.archive.org. And HERE you will find the very first forum of The Win-Only Riders' Clan ;)

Finally after a loooong troubled time, Battlemail closed for good leaving our community of players all alone in the vast web.

While many moved at once to the StarRift forums, StarRift being a game supposed to be released soon by Womble, the main animator of Battlemail, and two members of the BM community who had shown us their technical abilities there :)

But the game was merely progressing and the different clans of the BM community started to scatered itself between different games forums in which they got involved.

The Win-Only Riders however, mainly on the impulse of their leaders I must say  , decided to not spread too much among these forums in which we had lost confidence as they happened of course to disappear with the games...

So they've decided to stay with P², a few Midnight Lunatics (P²'s clan) and others ex-Bmers on this place which was our. We've given it a name after long deliberations: The Lost Forum (and sadely realised later that it was far to be as original as we thought ... I think in fact that all the others have just stollen our brilliant idea ! :D).

For a long time The Lost Forum has merely survived only because of the WOR activity but as we kept the same URL for quite long, many old BMers found their way back here from times to times and we were quite several to join neorift, another game which had helped to reinforce the community while ex-BMers insure an incredible domination on this game for a very long period while rounds were only disputed among ex-Bmers syndicates :haha:

Others like Wolffestars or, for a time, Outlaws had their own home and we visited each others regularly and still do as you can see it now :)

Little by little though The Lost Forum became more and more considered as The Win-Only Riders' Clan home but it has always been its goal to stay opened to others and we've kept the same URL since I've bought the domain name about 3 years ago :)

Finally the Cinemadnauts joined us two years ago. They are a bunch of Frenchies (well ... most of them) arrived from Mad-Movies' forums while the servers there too were apparently dealing with many problems to stay online. Finally they've stayed and created a community there, in a first time way too much (imo) oriented around a private French forum but which is now really integrated in the whole TLF community (even if they are still few "resistants" ;)).

And now after a 3 years deep deep sleep. Here comes a fresh and updated TLF :)

Sadly G2unit blog will stay offline but I've finally found the motivation to put TLF back on, hopping to see some of long timers coming back, as well as new comers.
