Postby Chevalier Bayard » Mon 19 Apr, 2010 20:17

Five days already as I write down that air traffic is almost stop over all Europe Union due to the eruption of this Icelandic volcano and the huge quantity of dust it has thrown in the atmosphere (check this topic).

Here are some awesome pictures of this eruption, incoming from The Big Picture

Amazing !!

The lightning is beautiful, but it must be terrifying for people who live near the volcano.

My wife brought up a good point. Why is it that no one is talking about how the eruption is affecting Iceland?

From the looks of the the satellite photo, it looks like Iceland is barely affected by it.

Indeed, the winds are pushing the dust cloud on the East, out of Iceland and right on the European continent.

Sent our research aircraft up today for around 5H30 round Scotland in the hope the scientists can work out what is ahppening!

Plans for tomorrow another more northerly flight closer to Iceland so what that produces.

Me I travel overnight by train on Wednesday to Inverness

Well your schedule might have changed again. I've not seen the last news but here is a picture taken on the way to my office this morning.
