There was a first initiative in Paris regarding video game with a dedicated exposition which sadly got known only before being closed for security reasons (asbestos remaining in the old building hosting). Suddenly finding itself without any location, the exposition disappeared for a long time despite many supporter calls for rescue which, at least, shows there was an interest for such an exposition.
And it seems the Culture Ministry heard it as opened this year le Musée du Jeu Vidéo, with an awesome launching trailer from Patrick Jean (who directed the short Pixels which influence is obvious).
On April 14th 2010 we had it !! A real museum dedicated to video games !!

I didn't get to the museum on its opening because Liewen's sister and her boyfriend were supposed to visit us two weeks later from Ireland, and Musée des Jeux Vidéo was the first museum everyone agree on for a visit as soon as we've meet each others.
Sadly the curse for video-games representation was still effective. A week after its opening, the museum was closed because of elevator problems which prevented people to get to the roof of the Arch of La Défense. Worst, the estimation given for the necessary work to be done on the elevator was of four months !!

Today, more than two months after its closure, the future is very uncertain for this museum ... In the meantime you can still visit virtually by clicking on the picture below. Main language is French but, as in all museum, there is often English as well so everyone should enjoy the visit

Now let's hope we'll be able to visit it IRL soon
