Some "news" from 3DRealms

3D Realms wrote:No, you cannot pre-order the game. If you see some online store saying "We are taking pre-orders", they're just trying to get your money (they usually also make up their own supposed "insider release date info", too). There is no release date set, we are not taking pre-orders for the game. End of story.

Once we begin taking pre-orders, believe us, you'll know about it. :)

The release date of this game is "When it's done". Anything else, and we mean anything else is someone's speculation. There is no date. We don't know any date. If you have a friend who claims they have "inside info", or there's some game news site, or some computer store at the mall who claims they know - they do not. They are making it up. There is no date. Period.

And yes, we know the game has taken a long time. There's no possible joke you could make about the game's development time that we haven't already heard. :)

:p

But new images too...

Only discovered today that Megadeth have released their own version of Duke Nukem's theme

According to what I gathered on the net it can be found as bonus track on a LP japanese edition.

It could also be found on this CD released in 1999 (I'm just 10 years late then :D)

The trackilist is the following:
1. Duke Nukem Theme - Megadeth (previously unreleased)
2. Cinnamon Girl - Type O Negative (previously unreleased in U.S.)
3. What U See Is What U Get - Xzbit
4. Blisters - Coal Chamber (previously unreleased in U.S.)
5. Bitch - Sevendust
6. Song 10 - Zebrahead
7. The Thing I Hate - Stabbing Westward
8. It's Yourz - Wu-Tang Clan
9. Screaming From The Sky - Slayer
10. New World Order - Megadeth (previously unreleased)
11. Stone Crazy - The Beatnuts
12. Land Of The Free Disease - Corrosion Of Conformity (previously unreleased)

Tadaaaaaaaaaa ! Guess who's back ?! :D

While we thought the settlement of the breach-of-contract lawsuit between 3DRealms/Apogee and Take-Two Interactive on May 28th was the final point for Duke Nukem Forever, here comes a new rumor from kotaku! :D

kotaku wrote:There may be hope yet for the ludicrously long-in-the-making Duke Nukem Forever. Sources claiming to have knowledge of the situation tell Kotaku that Duke Nukem Forever development continues at a new home, Borderlands developer Gearbox Software.

The studio responsible for Brothers In Arms, Borderlands and Aliens: Colonial Marines is said to have picked up Duke Nukem Forever development where former studio 3D Realms left off, perhaps Duke's best bet for eventual completion.

Duke Nukem Forever, according to sources who wished to remain anonymous, is now in the hands of Gearbox and is planned to be released under the studio's name. Gearbox was outed as the developer of the apparently scrapped Duke Nukem spin-off Duke Begins earlier this year.

[...]

One source indicated that a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever will be available later this year.

[...]

Given the nature of Duke Nukem Forever's long and storied history, we're filing this under rumor for now, but we'll be keeping a close eye on PAX-related developments for further details.

So maybe, maybe, we'll finally get to play to Duke Nukem Forever :D

I was starting to think that Forever was a reference to how long they would be working on it.:D

It is real! Yesterday 2K sent the following communiqué:

2K software wrote:Friday 3rd September/...

2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that forever is nearly here, as Duke Nukem Forever® will officially make its long-awaited debut for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in calendar 2011. Duke Nukem, the interactive entertainment industry’s most irreverent and quoted character of all time, will bring his signature brand of babe-lovin’, cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he once again saves the Earth and our babes from hordes of invading aliens. In other shocking news, Duke Nukem Forever will be playable right now for all attendees 17 and older of this year’s Penny Arcade Expo at the 2K Booth (booth #3417), giving the first hands-on experience with the game that was originally announced during the tail end of the Clinton Administration.

Too bad Rawhide won't go to PAX taking place in Seattle, he could have tried the game for us :)

Some new pics with the game (sober) packages for the different platforms.
