Anime + Manga

Postby Renzokuken » Sat 29 Apr, 2006 01:05

No this is NOT cartoon porn - that is hentai.

Now there have to be some Anime fans round here... So what are your favourite films/series?

Serial Experiment: Lain
Air
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan

3 really good series if anyone else has watched them (other than Magical Bum who I know has) some feedback would be nice.

Otherwise... what are yours?  :D

I love Serial Experiment: Lain but haven't seen all the episodes yet.

I think my most favourite manga is Cowboy Bebop

Image

That reminds me I should do a topic about the movie which is absolutely AWESOME !!

To stay on the series I'm also a big fan of Clamp's X

Image

And since my childhood I'm  still a huge fan of The Mysterious Cities of Gold

Image,

Miyazaki's Sherlock Holmes

Image

and ... last but not least ... Captain Harlock  8-)

Image

The first serie of Harlock/Herlock/Albator has the best story but the draws looks really old now. But I still watch with the same pleasure the second season which rules !! :gj:

That will be all for now but there are many other series to talk about :)

(yes I'm a fan of anime and manga ;))

I haven't watched anything from this genre since The Thundercats and Voltron back in the mid 1980's.

well vampire hunter d is a must watch, same with hellsing and ninja scrolls. Bleach is good but way too many eps and they tend to poop one out every week.
One piece is just funny a little dragonball z mixed with pirates
GT especially the start was ultra crap
Howls Moving Castle is by the same maker of Spirited Away and both are MUST see!! Beautiful fairytale like animes. Maybe no violence but the story and artwork is just awesome.
Gundam wing is a series you must watch from beginning to end cause they tend to switch sides on a minute to minute basis  :D You would miss an episode and be like "hey wasn't he on the gundams side just 2 eps ago?"
And can't go wrong with ghost in the shell.
And for my weird moments:

You might enjoy "Air" then. Same fairy tale styled idea with little to no violence in it. Very (as ever) sci-fi theme in some aspects which a hugely involving story line!
Also has some comical aspects too  ;)

Dokuro-Chan however is just a violent comedy - and it does hold true to being a comedy! Good watch for anyone with a sense of humour and humour based violence.

I had skipped my list to anime-series only. Of course Miyasaki's movies are ALL must see.

Don't forget also Naüsica and Porco Rosso :)

Regarding the anime Miyasaki has worked on Conan (nothing to do with the barabarian ;)) and the Sherlock Holmes I had mentionned earlier.

Btw, there is a topic dedicated to Howls Moving Castle => HERE <= in the Movie Theater forum :)

If you check the index you'll also find the topic for Steamboy or Wonderfull Days and many others will come ;)

Too bad I've lost the long topic I had made on Ghost In The Shell: Innocence  :?
